Have you ever thought of what the best science fiction books of all time are?. To be honest everyones opinion is going to be different as the selection availible out there is huge. If you search online you will soon discover this fact.
Within this article we will show you what is commonly considered to be best science fiction books around today.
1. H G Wells – The Time Machine
This book which was first published in 1895 has stood the test of time and is the oldest of all sci fi books which appear here. It was H G Wells who first coined the term “time machine” and made us think it could be possible in the future to travel backwards and forwards through time.
2. 2001 A Space Odyssey By Arthur C Clarke
Arthur C Clarke is indeed one of the best science fiction books authors of his time. 2001 was however published at the same time of the completion of the Stanley Kubrick film. As we know the movie is an all time great, but the book matches it, if not exceeds it in every way.
3. Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy By D. Adams
Douglas Adams has always been able to put a totally unique style into his writing that I have yet to see replicated by anyone else to the quality that this book has displayed. It is an all time great no question, and his unusual sense of humor that is shown in his books has built up a massive fan base over the years. It all starts with Arthur Dent trying to stop his house from being demolished, to earths destruction, to finding out the answer to the ultimate question. Great Stuff!

While we have mentioned 3 well known classics here there are so many sci fi books released every year will any of them ever be able to go one better than Arthur C Clarkes well known masterpiece.
The trend seems to be towards trilogies or even longer sets, whether it is because the publishing house makes more money that way or because the story really does need to be split up I don't know but two that I have enjoyed are
-Amtrack Wars-Patrick Tilley
Superb series, post nuclear war America. Both sides of the fence are shown here. The super high tech Amtrack Federation and the Mutes who have learned to live with the new world
-The Lost Regiment -William R. Forstchen
This series of 9 books (and 1 later follow up book) are the kind that you love or never get past book 1. Personally I liked 1-7 but the last 2 i read so i could say i had finished them all.
Are either of these series as good as the hitchikers guide to the galaxy?
